We had a visit from two of Franklin's community helpers. Thank you Officer Manocchio and Officer Mucciarone for visiting our classroom and teaching us about safety.

We learned about calling 911 for emergencies and the importance of seatbelts and wearing helmets when riding bikes.

Everyone was excited to share ideas and ask questions.
The students were able to try on some of the police gear.

Thank you Franklin Police for keeping us safe!

Valentine Exchange in Room 201: February 13th

Students are invited to bring in valentines to exchange with their classmates on Tuesday, February 13th.  Participation is completely optional.  Have/help your child write his/her own name on the valentines but please DO NOT fill out who each valentine is for as it makes it too complicated for delivery of the valentines.  Per school policy, NO CANDY please!  Please note that we have a total of 15 students our class.

Have fun!
Miss Julie :)

During the month of February, we will be learning about the community we live in. We will also talk about community helpers and the tools they use to do their jobs. As we explore this topic, we will be answering the following essential questions:
  • What is a community?
  • Where do I live?
  • How do community helpers help me?
  • Who are the community helpers that live and work in my community?

This week, our classroom turned into a busy pizzeria with many chefs perfecting the art of making English muffin pizzas.

This was our first experience with cooking in our classroom this year. Everyone loved it so much, so we will be sure to put our chef skills to the test again! Cooking with your children is a great way to experiment with tasting new foods...if they have helped prepare a meal, they are more likely to try a bite. Measuring, number recognition and counting are also incorporated into cooking...a great way to sneak in some math!

SNOW FUN!

It has been so cold and icy, but we were able to get a few days outside on the playground. We are counting the days until Spring arrives, but in the meantime, we've had some fun in the snow!
