~WELCOME DECEMBER~

We had such a wonderful time at our cookie party before Thanksgiving. Thank you to everyone for joining us and making it an extra special day.

During the event, we read The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett. There are many versions of "The Gingerbread Boy" fairy tale available. If you plan to visit the newly renovated Franklin Public Library, visit the Fairy Tale section and see how many versions you and your child can find! Which is your favorite?

Making gingerbread cookies is one of my favorite activities to share with my family. Here is my recipe if you would like to make them, too!

Gingerbread Cutouts
1/2 cup shortening
2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup molasses
1 egg
1 tbs  vinegar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

In a stand mixer, whip shortening for 30 seconds. Add half of flour along with the rest of the ingredients. Beat until combined. Slowly, beat in remaining flour, cover and chill for 3 hours. On a floured surface, roll and cut gingerbread shapes with cookie cutters. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper. Place cutouts on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-14 minutes, depending on the thickness of the cookie. Enjoy!

Our Family Wall continues to be an attraction to all of the children. They love looking at the pictures and asking each other questions about family members.

And playing board games together...
(Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteer!)

It's always fun to explore in the sensory table!

We counted our November weather data and discovered that it was a very CLOUDY month. The children are excited to see if we will be able to use our "snowing" weather pictures during the month of December!

During our weekly visit from our school psychologist, Miss Jen, we learned about The Zones of Regulation and Whole Body Listening.

The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum geared toward helping students gain skills in recognizing their feelings and consciously regulating their actions, which in turn leads to increased control and problem solving abilities.

Reminder: No school on Friday 12/8~Parent teacher conferences

Enjoy the weekend!
